Above is a note a student left on my desk yesterday. It might not stack up with your standards, but where you may find fault, I see progress on multiple levels. That’s what most school years are about–a little bit of progress.
When the bell rings at noon, the students will burst from their rooms and shout with glee. They will hurry to their busses or walk a little more confidently home to face a summer filled with fun. Fifteen minutes later, you could sneak into the cafeteria and hear the teachers’ cheers during our end-of-year meeting. This is something I didn’t know as a student: the last day of school is even sweeter as a teacher!
What joyful sounds do you make? Why?
